10 Ways to Stop Being Tofu and Start Being Uniquely YOU
BY PAM THOMAS APRIL 21, 2015 – www.tut.com/blog
If you’ve ever had tofu you’ve probably noticed that on it’s own tofu is rather bland. BUT when it’s mixed with something else… well, that’s when it takes on the flavor of whatever it’s mixed with. It NEEDS those other ingredients in order to have an identity and flavor.
I used to be like tofu, flavorless and without identity. This led to relationships where I settled, career choices where I settled, ultimately a life of settling, molding and melding in order to fit somewhere… anywhere.
It wasn’t until I got to know me, understanding what was blocking me from sharing me with the world, that is when I stopped being tofu-ish.
I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart there is NEVER a need for any of us to be like tofu. EVER! Each one of us brings with us our own unique flavor. Our own unique way of being that is not like any other. It is our uniqueness that helps us to create more peace, more abundance, more joy, and those authentic connections with others.
To avoid being like tofu, here are 10 things you can do to bring out your own flavor:
Quit with the comparisons. Comparing yourself with others does two things: it tells the Universe and those around you that you’re nothing special (B.S! TOTAL B.S!), and it does a great job of hiding what makes you special. So if you catch yourself comparing, stop right then and there.
Get to know your awesomeness up close and personal.
What makes you, you? What qualities and characteristics do you have? What do you value? How would you describe yourself? Any of these questions will help you to get acquainted with you.
Practice the art of self-care.
When you are fried and crispy you become more susceptible to fear, doubt, insecurities and the like. Taking just 10 minutes every day to recharge and rest can make a huge difference in bringing out your own flavor.
Remind yourself that you have no control over what others think.
Yep, I know this is easier said than done, but it’s true. The time is now to stop being held hostage by something none of us has control over.
Celebrate the wins.
It is all too common to move from one activity, task, project, or goal to the next without taking the time to pause and acknowledge. Starting today, take some time to acknowledge your wins no matter what the size.
Have some fun by yourself.
Take yourself on a date and do something fun for you and with you. Nothing says flavor more than fun.
Gag your Itty Bitty Shitty Committee (negative, self doubting thoughts).
Our brains don’t know reality from fiction. What we feed it, it gives right back. If you’re telling yourself things like, “I’m so fat… no one is going to like me,” your brain is saying, “Yep, that’s true, because I believe you.” So gag those voices when you hear them.
Gift yourself a hobby.
Nothing adds flavor like a fun hobby. If you have one that needs to be taken off the shelf and dusted, please do.
Do the work, and I mean the personal development work.
What drives you to want to mold and meld? What stands in the way of you sharing your unique flavor with the world? When you can get to the source, you find all sorts of long lasting solutions.
Recognize that you have more to gain by being you.
When you aren’t trying to mold or meld with others, you get the amazing opportunity to connect with people who enjoy you for who you are. You gain more peace of mind, more energy, because it’s a real drag and drain to keep trying to be someone you’re not in order to fit.
So here’s to being your own flavor and leaving tofu where it belongs… in the kitchen.

9 Essential Beauty Tips for Every Woman in Her 40’s

Aging is definitely a process that we all have to accept with grace – and while we might not like it, there’s really no stopping the process. Growing older is a beautiful part of life, filled with love, lessons and loads of good times. But, for many of us, slowing the process is essential – and that means taking care of your body by staying fit and making good nutritional choices. With all this happening, it turns out your beauty process has to evolve, too. From skin care to hair and makeup, once you hit 40, the products of your 20’s and even your 30’s may no longer do the trick. Not sure what to adjust first? Keep reading for beauty tips for women over 40.
9 Essential Beauty Tips for Every Woman in Her 40’s
Eat Right. Load up on the leafy greens, fruits and lean proteins and skip the processed products. Feeding the body with the best will also help you look your best.
Keep your makeup natural. Go for warm, natural tones – to bring a sense of youthful glow back to the skin. Sticking to the golden warm hues invokes a sense of brightness and light – and also helps to balance out any redness.
Give your cheeks a rosy glow to help draw attention away from dark under-eye circles. Stick with those warm tones like peaches, pinks and golden hues.
Consider plumping up thinning lips with some added gloss. The aging process naturally includes the breakdown of collagen – and often that means lips begin to thin just a bit. Add some gloss on top of your daily lipstick to give the illusion of a plumped up pout.
Keep your hairstyle soft and flowy. Just because you’re in your 40’s doesn’t mean you have to cut off all your locks or go for a harsh look. Keep your hair youthful and it will reflect on your total look.
Look for foundations that offer hydrating solutions to keep skin looking dewy and moisturized. Over 40, skin tends to get a bit thinner and often dryer – so it’s time to help it out with some added moisture.
Fill in brows to make them appear fuller. Use a brow pencil or gel to help give thinning brows some definition and depth.
Don’t skip out on the facials. Now is the time to keep that skin healthy and glowing – and that means regular exfoliation.
Smile! Keep that youthful look by simply adding a smile as your best accessory.
Are you in your 40’s? What are the beauty tricks that work best for you?
This is a great article I found from Lorens World for women in their 40’s. As you mature there are age related items on which to focus. Your skin starts changing and it is good to remember to take care of your skin. It’s so important to cleans/exfoliate, tone and moisturize always. Find the products that would be most beneficial to you by taking the Skin Care Analysis.
Sometimes it’s important to stop and have a break. It seems that in the quiet alone time is when great thoughts come about. Alone time can re-charge your creative battery. It can help you figure out the answers that have been so hard to come by.
Life keeps us too busy to take that healing break. Life is full of ‘should haves’ and broken dreams. Stress is the norm.
Simply taking a break, alone, in a beautiful, relaxing place will do wonders! Take time to spend that time with yourself. Schedule it in your calendar if you need to. It will help reduce stress. It will help you find answers. It will help you figure everything out. Make it a habit of re-charging yourself and watch how your life changes, in a good way!
7 Essential Beauty Tips for Every Woman in Her 30’s

Have you recently hit your 30’s and are finding out that all those beauty tricks you were using in your 20’s just aren’t cutting it anymore? Perhaps your tastes are changing – and you’re just starting to realize that it’s time to change things up just a bit. Not sure how to adjust your daily routine to your new 30s lifestyle? Here’s a roundup of some of the best beauty tips for women over 30.
7 Essential Beauty Tips for Every Woman in Her 30’s
Wash your face every night. In your 20s, there were probably loads of late nights out on the town where you came home exhausted and totally crashed without even thinking about cleansing the makeup off your face. Well, once you hit that 30 mark, it’s really time to start paying attention to your skin – and returning it to clean slate status every night is essential.
Don’t be afraid to treat yourself to the occasional facial – after all, you’re in your 30s now. There’s nothing as wonderful as giving your skin the refresh that comes with all the fabulousness of a facial. And, keeping up with that routine will keep your skin looking dewy and fresh – exactly what keeps you looking forever young.
Think about going to the dentist for a professional teeth whitening. Glowing and gorgeous teeth will help keep your whole face looking brighter, younger and just gorgeous. Skip the drugstore treatments and see your dentist about getting the job done right.
Don’t skip out on moisturizing. When you start to age, so does your skin and that means keeping it soft and supple is up to you. Finding a moisturizer you love is essential – and sticking to that routine will save your skin in the long run.
Add essential fatty acids and antioxidant rich foods to your diet. It’s time to fuel and cleanse your body from the inside out – and that means stepping up your diet to be more focused on the good-for-you foods that will keep you looking young and add some extra pep to your step.
Make protecting your skin from the sun a number one goal. Now is definitely not the time to add sun damage to your skin’s resume – it’s time to protect it and keep it looking just as young as when you were in your 20s. Utilize sun protection every day – and get into hats with wide brims as part of your new 30s style.
Hydrate. Hydrate. Your skin will thank you for this one. Keeping your skin hydrated and young actually starts from the inside – and that means loading up on water every day.
Have you recently turned 30? What beauty treatments have you found to be vital these days?
For those that are in their 30s this is a great article from Loren’s World. Cleansing, Toning, Treatment and Moisturizing are the essential steps of a skincare routine. Do you wake up each morning feeling stressed and anxious about the workday ahead of you? Do you feel dread and fear when thinking about what you have to do? If you’re like the vast majority of people, the answer is a resounding yes.
80% of U.S. workers say they are stressed at work, according to the 2014 Work Stress Survey conducted by Nielsen on behalf of Everest College.
Money (64% report that this is a very or somewhat significant source of stress)
The economy (49%)
Family responsibilities (47%)
Personal health concerns (46%)
What if you could alleviate some of that fear and stress each morning? The solution lies within your subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind.
We have two distinct minds, the conscious and the subconscious. As author Brian Tracy explains:
Your conscious mind can be thought of as the gardener, planting seeds; your subconscious mind can be thought of as the garden, or fertile soil, in which the seeds germinate and grow.
Your subconscious mind will act upon any request or instruction you give it. It cannot distinguish between what is real and what is imagined. It’s been said that your subconscious mind is in control of at least 95% of your day.
Simply put, if you wake up feeling stressed, anxious, and fearful about the day ahead, and picture all of the bad things that are going to happen, many of them will. If you flip that on its head and focus on all of the good things that are going to happen, many of them will.
As you sow in your subconscious mind, so shall you reap in your body and environment.
Here’s how you can help to program your subconscious mind to set you up for success each day. Before you get started with these simple steps, I want you to put all thoughts of stress, fear, and doubt to the side. Take a deep breath, and let’s begin.
1. When you first wake up, sit down for five minutes with a pen and a piece of paper.
That is all you will need. Don’t open up your laptop, and definitely don’t check your email or anything on your phone.
2. Say the following words out loud: “Today is going to be the best day ever!”
Yes, you’re most likely going to feel weird saying this at first. That’s completely fine. Say it in private if you need to, but just say it.
The purpose of this is to pass a command from your conscious mind to your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind wants to believe what you tell it (good or bad), and it will do whatever it takes to turn those commands into reality.
When you tell your subconscious mind that today is going to be the best day ever, it’s going to try to do whatever it can to make that happen.
3. Take out your pen and paper and write down those same exact words at the top of the page: “Today is going to be the best day ever!”
One of the rules the subconscious mind follows is that the beliefs it holds grow stronger with repetition.
4. Take your pen and paper and start to write out how your day is going to unfold. Be as specific as possible, and be completely positive.
Envision everything’s working out in the best possible way and feel good about whatever is in store (no matter what it is).
Write in statements like this:
My meeting with the new investors is going to be amazing! I am going to be confident, prepared, and excited. They are going to love what we are doing and want to work with us.
My quarterly review is going to go so well! I have worked hard this quarter and I know I did a really great job and they are going to recognize that.
I am going to get to my daughter’s recital on time. I will be completely present and make it all about her. It will be a great experience!
Get it all down on paper and feel the excitement. The more that you feel it and believe it, the more you are helping to make it a reality.
5. Finish writing out your day and then write two simple words at the bottom of the page and say them out loud: “Thank you!”
It doesn’t matter what your beliefs are or whom you are actually saying thanks to—just write it down and say it. And then think about it for a minute.
Think about all of the amazing opportunities that you have in your life and all of the great things that you are going to get to experience today.
Trust the process.
Doing this will feel strange at first. Be patient with yourself and don’t take it too seriously. Have fun with it.
Your days will probably never unfold exactly as you write them down and envision them to. That’s completely fine and even a good thing. Life would be pretty boring if we could predict it perfectly, wouldn’t it? But this will help you to go into each day without dread and with a positive outlook.
This simple, five-minute practice can help drastically change your attitude and allow you to create the best day ever, every single day of your life!
This is Super Information! Having fun as you go through life is the goal for a stress free life. When you program your subconscious mind you can help you keep your days events positive. Make today the Best Day Ever – Everyday! Try it!
As temperatures keep dropping, it can be difficult to maintain your regular beauty routine. And in fact, you shouldn’t have to. The trick to winter beauty is to adapt to the season’s demands. Just as you update your wardrobe and styling based on the warmth or humidity of the climate, you should be adjusting for your skincare and makeup habits. Your hair, skin and lips will all need a little more attention in these dryer conditions. So read ahead for some tips to keep looking your best this season with a few weather-appropriate tweaks.
8 Winter Beauty Tips
1. Drink plenty of water: Dryer conditions mean you need to hydrate from the inside out. Complexions tend to dull due to a lack of hydration in combination with the dry outdoor air and exaggerated indoor heat. Make sure to keep a steady water habit to maintain your glow.
2. Update your skincare: You’ll need a thicker, creamier cleanser and moisturizer to compensate for the damage and dryness your skin will experience. (Summer calls for more of a gel type texture.) Whatever you do, don’t stop moisturizing and using your serums. This is the time your skin needs it most.
3. Moisturize all over: Don’t forget about the rest of your body. You’ll need thicker, more emollient body lotion to help your skin recover its moisture. Apply cream or oil as soon as you exit the shower, while you’re still a bit damp, to help it absorb better. For your feet, lather on the thickest cream you can find and put on a pair of socks for overnight therapy.
4. Exfoliate: Dry skin tends to build up and stick around for longer, so do your best to exfoliate about two to three times per week. Then follow up with moisturizer. This works for face, body, and lips.
5. Protect your hair: To control fly-aways and static that can build up due to the dry air, add some leave-in conditioner to your hair. This will help keep it moisturized and in place. Dry oil works well too and often comes in a travel-friendly spray bottle you can stash in your purse.
6. Conceal: Dry, rough patches on your face will inevitably occur in colder climates. Keep concealer handy to touch up red spots, which often occur on the nose. Apply moisturizer first to make sure it stays on for longer.
7. Nails need love too: Just because your hands will likely be hidden away in your pockets or inside gloves and mittens doesn’t mean they won’t be affected by the cold. Pay attention to your nails and cuticles and apply cuticle oil as needed to keep them from peeling back.
8. Wear SPF: Just because the sun’s not shining, doesn’t mean you’re not exposed to harmful UV rays. Be sure to apply sunscreen just as you would during any other season to protect from skin damage.
Winter weather really does damage to your skin, hair and nails. This means you need to take extra care of them. Hydration and Moisturization are really important during this time of the year too. This article from Loren’s World gives great tips.
